The Ukrainian FM (Foreign Minister) Dmytro Kuleba met Chinese counterpart. Beijing has refuted claims that it is supporting Russia’s war in Ukraine, and says it is seeking to bring both Kyiv and Moscow to the negotiating table.
It cited Kuleba as saying: “I am convinced that a just peace in Ukraine is in China’s strategic interests, and China’s role as a global force for peace is important”, words that sound rather lecturing and adjustment requiring than humbly asking support. And of course Ukraine is willing to go for negotiations IF UKRAINE’S SOVEREIGNTY AND TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY ARE FULLY RESPECTED.
So they are not ready for negotiations , they do not want negotiations they do not want negotiations they are not yet convinced about the realities in the ground. They just want what they want and they imagine that Russia only was some paintball-ing in Ukraine for two years, not spending lives and military equipment because there was not any common ground.
Kuleba is the first senior Ukrainian official to visit China since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
China’s foreign ministry had said Kuleba and Wang held talks in the city of Guangzhou, with spokeswoman Mao Ning telling journalists they “exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis”.
China envisions a “political settlement” not a cease fire.
The sudden Ukrainian wish for “peace” may be an attempt to at least make it look like a sort of peace can be achieved under Democrat president, steeling one of Trump’s well known assets, the one of the best negotiator of the Ukrainian conflict, so that the people think to re elect a Democrat leader instead of Trump. The requested “peace” plan sounds not sincere but precipitated.
