… with Victor Orban , not with Tom Cruise.
If the Hungarian leader surprised everyone with a visit in Ukraine, wait to see: he is today, 5th of July, 2024 in Moscow. Hungary took over the 6 months by rotation presidency in the EU and jumped on an admirable self-imposed and seriously committed to duty to make Europe Great Again. It is a big task for just 6 months of symbolic chairmanship to mask the obvious fact that EU is enslaving its members, yet Hungary is the only voice in EU that put aside the anti-Russian sentiment and the ignorant Russo-phobia and make what any state leader should do regardless of emotional traps: DIPLOMACY, an art that can make anyone speak with anyone else, even with Russia and China. This “decent” diplomacy managed to focus 40% of the Chinese investment in the EU exclusively for Hungary, and at Kremlin Victor Orban addressed the elephant in the room: Ukraine.
President Putin welcome Victor Orban with a firm handshake, the hug, if there was any, was behind the cameras probably not to stir too much resentment from the EU officials, and then he, president Putin stated that: “I’m all yours to speak about nuances aside my already explained peace plan, in 14th of June, or other suggestions”. Vladimir Putin also aknowledged Mr Trumps peace proposal as a starting point and opened to other suggestions during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit 2 days ago in Asthana, and reminded of the document just about to be signed at Ankara March 2022 when Ukrainian leaders nearly agreed to put their signature on, but changed their mind.
Joseph Borell, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Ursula Von Der Leyen, president of the European Commission, and EU council President Charles Michel stated that Victor Orban is not authorized to speak with Vladimir Putin on behalf of EU, and that the visit should be rated only as a bilateral one. The Hungarian PM “rattle” exploits the EU presidency to saw confusion.
Jens Stoltenberg also claimed his staff was informed by Hungarian staff about the visit, not informed personally and denies Victor Orban’s ability to represent NATO in dialog with President Putin.
EU and NATO members disqualify Victor Orban’s initiative that suits exclusively Hungarian’s interests, insincere and ilegitimate, and expect a “disruptive, trolling and unstable” 6 months presidency mandate.
Other than 3 hours of direct dialogue between the two leaders Vladimir Putin held an official press conference calling for peace in Ukraine and said: “the Ukrain’s sponsors continue to try to use this country (Ukraine) and its people as a battering ram, a victim of the confrontation with Russia.”
Victor Orban declared: “I’ve heard both parties in Kyev and in Moscow, they are too far from each other. There still is a long way before negotiations possible but we make the first step: the contact, and we will continue in this direction”.
Vladimir Putin says that he would not trust a cease fire shallow commitment after being betrayed in the 2 Minsk agreements, so he wants peace with definitive commitments.
